This red, white and blue banner can be used on Memorial Day, Fourth of July or kept up all year long to keep all those who have served our country in mind. We are a military family: my husband spent 20 years in the army, my son is in the army and one of my daughters and new son-in-law are in the Coast Guard. Seeing the sacrifices that they make daily for our country really makes me appreciate the freedom we enjoy living here in America.
To make the banner, you will need:
- Rowdy buttons by Buttons Galore (2 packages)
- Wacky Tacky Tape Stars
- matboard or heavy cardstock in red, white and blue
- Sizzix Serif Essentials alphabet
- Sizzix Primitive Hearts die
- Sizzix Big Shot die cut machine
- Scallops On the Edge die by Tim Holtz
- silver glitter
- Glue Glider
- red, white and blue ribbon
- kraft paper
Instructions:
Cut out three pennant shapes measuring about 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″. Score a line across the top of the pennant about 3/4″ down from the top of each shape, and fold down.
Cut kraft paper to cover pennant topper, using the Scalloped border to add interest.
Adhere tacky stars randomly to top of banner pieces and remove outer paper. Shake silver glitter on top of the adhesive and tap off excess. Fill in banner top by gluing red and blue buttons where needed.
Cut out letters spelling I (heart) USA and adhere to pennants.
With Crop-a-dile, punch holes in top corners of banner under the scalloped flap for ribbon hanger. Thread ribbon through and knot at each join.
Tie to shelf, wreath or wall and celebrate Memorial Day!
